Llanelli's Gone Green

On the 1st of May the people of the district of Llanelli made a huge statement calling for change. The Labour Party has been completely wiped out in many wards, often being replaced by Plaid Cymru councillors. The town has always had a reluctance to vote for Plaid in the past, but this precedent has now been completely blown out of the water.

The fact is that so many seats have turned green on both County and Community councils its difficult to believe. So successful were Plaid that they gained 15 seats county wide, making them the largest party in the council. They worked hard, and being truthful, they put on the best campaign.

There will be a lot of talking and negotiating going on behind closed doors. There are three possible arrangements for taking control of the council, Plaid-Labour, Plaid-Independent or Independent-Labour. As news slowly surfaces, it will mark a revolution in the way Carmarthen County Hall is run.
